I have a Sony DVD/CD driver and burner, R/W DRU-540A, and Nero programs that came with it (Nero Express, Nero 2 Vision Express, ...). I've successfully created a very basic DVD from jpg images using Video Express. I can play it on my Sony DVD player. I really don't know quite how titles, menus, chapters, and buttons all work. The program isn't real friendly in that respect.

However, my reason for this post is that I would like to put these jpg images on a CD instead. The procedure seems somewhat like for DVDs, but the end result is not. I brought in 60 jpg images for the project, then created a menu/title. Then I burned the CD. I cannot play it in my new Sony DVD player. It just shows the title. When I inspected the directories on the CD with my PC, I found several directories and a few files. I did find what a bunch of dat files. They may have names that correspond to the 60 jpg files, but they are not nearly the size. If I click on one, it brings up some Nero audio program and doesn't recognize the contents.

So how do I create a CD with these jpg files that someone can read with a DVD/CD player?

The main Nero Express menu gives a choice of "Make CD..." and three sub menus corresponding to "Video CD", "Super Video CD" and "miniDVD". I used the first of these to get the results above.

Is there a better tool that Nero out there? I don't see how it is really very user friendly. It seems awkward, and the on-line documentation does not exactly correspond to the program.
