    Hello,

I recently bought a nice Celeron 2.66ghz EMACHINE. I want to transfer my Dvd Burner (microadvantage 4x single layer), 3d card, and wintv pvr 250 card (maybe my soundcard as well - no name cmedia 5.1).

Now I know my dvd burner didn't have software for the drive itself (but I updated the firmware once). I should be able to just unscrew it from the pc case and install it into the new emachine correct??? And I want to hook up an old 12x dvdrom in its place in the old pc. There should be no need to uninstall or install anything correct???? (except firmware on the new pc??).

For the tv card I'll uninstall the software on the old pc and just install it fresh on the new one.

For the 3d card (it's an agp no name SIS card), I will have to uninstall all the drivers on the old pc right??? Then just install it fresh on the new one??? I've got an old 32mb agp card I want to reinstall on the old pc. That should be just a straight install correct?

If I'm missing something let me know.

Also, I'll be doing these one at a time obviously. I'll unhook the dvd burner (internal obviously) and install that in the new pc. Then I'll do the pci/agp cards one at a time.

    Thanks.

Is the 3D card better than the built-in video? As far as uninstalling drivers, I don't think anyone's worried about copyright infringement. Unless the old PC has built-in video, in which case you might want to uninstall the SiS drivers so as not to conflict. Otherwise, I'd just wait until you're going to use that system again and remove / install the necessary drivers for whatever hardware is in there.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

    Hello,

Viral1 - I think so - The new EMACHINE has 64mb built in Intel extreme 3d The card I'm going to dub in is an older model 128mb 3d agp card (non ddr). I figure that's got to be better since it's dedicated memory.

I believe the old hp had built in memory, though not sure. That's why I'd want to put in an old 32mb 3d card to be sure.

I'll do this one at a time. I think I should be ok.

    Thanks.

I read this several times with the initial reaction that if you have installed/flased the firmware, it is a chip on the device right? (cd/dvd) Then I thought about the ADS usb capture devices's where the firmware is part of insalled software and is not "flashed" to the device once but each time the unit is initialized.

Now I too am curious about moving cd/dvd's that have been upgraded from pc to pc which I do all the time.

Any specific clarification from the more knowledgeable?

Sort of, it should have come with instructions, you have to set the jumpers right before you can do that.

    Hello,

Jumpers??? It's plug and play. I just installed it without doing anything to it.

    Oh... you mean master/slave right????
