  1. Using a LiteOn LDW411s and Ritek G04 media.

Case 1) When I use DVD Shrink and tell it to use Nero to burn the DVD when it is finished encoding it, everything goes fine. No errors and the DVD plays back as it should in every tested player.

Case 2) If I use DVD Shrink to write the DVD files to the hard disk first, and then use the actual Nero Burning ROM program to create the DVD from those files, the resulting DVD has several points in the movie where it has small skips when viewed in a dvd player. If you use a decoder on your computer to play it, such as InterVideo WinDVD or PowerDVD, the programs throw errors when they hit the skip spots in the movie.

For the life of me I can't find any special settings in Nero that would be causing this to happen. DVD Shrink has the options named "Book Type DVD-ROM" and "Burn at least 30 mm" options checked on it's burning options, but I can't find any simillar options in Nero 6.

Any idea why this is happening even though Nero is being used in both instances?

  2. I've used Shrink and Nero 6.3.0.3 both of the way you described and never had a problem. What version are you using?

Liteon dvd burners tend to prefer DVD+R media than DVD-R. I would suggest you flash your 411 drive to a 811 using the zebra mod. Check out the LITEON FORUM at cdfreaks.com they have lots of information on how to flash your 411 to a 811. The 811 burns DVD-R better than a 411.

I tried burning MAXELL & TAIYO YUDEN DVD-R media with the 411 and got tons of errors. After flashing to a 811 drive no problems. Now I only use my 411@811 drive to do KPROBE SCANS.

  5. Update:

I was using the 6.0 version of Nero. I snagged Nero 6.6 Reloaded and it now works like a champ.

Bottom line, try to update Nero if you experience the same problem or try a more recent version alltogether.
