I was wondering if someone could elaborate on this subject. I have found files that are in HDTV format and seem to require the xvid plug-in. How is this possible to view on a pc monitor and is it truely and HDTV picture. Sorry if my question is a little cloudy

    Thanx All

  2. Hum... depends on what you found and mean by HDtv format.. I'm going to guess it's some sort of TV ep recorded in HDtv (widescreen etc) and then converted to a xvid file.. So it's still widescreen but odds are it's not true "unchanged" HDtv.....

it might be close as far as looks if it's some huge file being most HDtv is close to 8gigs per an hour.. So if you found something that is 30min and 400meg rather then 4 gigs, you can tell that something is missing.

You just need the xvid codec.. then you can play the files with good old media player if I rem right.. http://www.xvid.org/

Of course there is also HD stuff out there that is not HDtv so to speak.. I rem seeing some movie samples that are HD but use some microsoft format that one needed to connect to the net first to get some licence for etc etc. Ah but you said xvid so I guess it's not that stuff..
