I just got a Zensonic Z330 DVD player and i am wanting to back up my stargate collection. Each dvd is dual layer with no extras so dvd9 to dvd5 gives too poor quality....

I want to convert each episode to Xvid
Create a DVD with each Xvid episode and have a menu to select them.

If its possible i would also like to give the xvids chapters..
Any help or link to guide/s would be great

If AVI/XviD on DVD is at all possible on your Zensonic, it's up to the players firmware what kind of menus are displayed. There's nothing much more you can do, than write the AVIs to DVD as data.

I can play XVids from cdr and dvdr on my dvd player.
I have made a vcd that had a menu and background with 5 episodes using nero and its own menu maker... Can i make a menu with Xvids and have a background?

Also can i add chapters to Xvids?

As I said, if your player doesn't have any special solution in the firmware for menus / chapters, no you can't. VCD is a standard where menus and stuff is defined - AVIs on DVD is no standard, so there is no general (if any) way of creating it. How a certain player handles AVI playback is 100% up to the firmware in the specific player. The best you can hope for, is a list of all AVI files on the DVD, I'm afraid...

    Hey Lord !

Good to hear you got the Z330 - you can be my guinea-pig until mine arrives !

Unfortunately, from what I've read, DivX/XviD on these things has to be burnt as a normal data CD/DVD and it just comes up with a file listing and that's it. It does the same with JPEG/MP3/WMA from what I've read.

Can it play MP3s on DVD ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

I tested AutoGK this afternoon and wasn't really impressed with it. I'm looking at Dr Divx ATM and it looks OK. I'll probably end up using AVISynth scripts in Virtualdub I think. BTW I don't think chapters are possible in these babies.

EDIT: Or I might just use mats' guide. I tried the link a couple of hours ago and it was down, so I tried the AutoGK and Dr Divx routes first. Looking good, mats !
    If in doubt, Google it.
