I have a DVD that was authored by someone else using TMPGenc DVD AUTHOR, the menu of the DVD was also made using the TMPGenc dvd author program, what I am wanting to know is that I do not like the background picture that was used on the main track menu, is there a way to replace the background with a different picture, or maybe even a motion background using the TMPGenc DVD authoring program while preserving all of the orginal thumbnail selections that are present on the track menu without having to re-encode the entire dvd, like is there some kind of method of just deleting the original background picture and inserting the new one, or would I have to use some kind of DVD structure program in order to do this. Any help would be great.![]()

Using What program? and how?
How do I even get into the original menu in order to change it? -
Its a DVD that a friend of mine made, but since has deleted from his HD, I can load the DVD files into TMPGenc DVD AUTHOR and the whole movie loads, but the menu does not. Is there not a way to just create the new menu somehow and insert it into the DVD structure?

OK, that's cool. Start a new project in TDA, and import the titlesets using the Add DVD Video button. Then create your own custom menu. I think you need to choose one of the menu templates, the go to edit theme, then right-click somewhere on the background iamge and the context menu should give you an option to change the background image. For motion menus, you need to enable them by going to the Menu Settings, then one of the tabs says motion - you need to enable it in here and set it up with your specs. Then you need to create a MPEG file to use as your motion menu.Originally Posted by HAMMER30
Once you're happy, output it to your hard drive and view it before burning, just to check it's how you want it.If in doubt, Google it. -
Just make your own thumbnails. make em either the exact same ones as you have or change em, but that shouldnt be a problem..... unless the thuimbnails were from something thats NOT on the dvd itself and ur "Friend" dont have the pics/vid that he used to make the thumbnails.Originally Posted by HAMMER30

If the thumbnails are in the movie you can easily use them as buttons. Click (or is it double click?) on the thumbnail of the menu as you are creating it and a little media player will open. You can scroll through the movie to locate the frame you want the thumbnail to be. Then click ok. The thumbnail will change to the frame you selected. The default thumbnail is the first thumbnail in the video segment that the button selects. If not, then as mentioned above you will need to obtain the original artwork to re-create the menu.
