I capture using a ADVC-100, and premier 6.0. In my capture parameters 1000kbps is set as the default bitrate on my DV capture; that field is grayed out so I can't change the bitrate. Does anybody know of a great capture software that works with firewire and I can be able to ajust the bitrate?

There is only one valid bitrate for DV files, about 28,000 kbps.
There are many programs that allow you to convert to another format while capturing (MPEG, DIVX etc) but then it won't be DV anymore. -
gabez,
I use a ADVC-100 also but one of the primary reasons I use it is because it encodes external to my system, no load on the cpu, no dropped frames.
It seems to me that by changing the bitrate during capture you are defeating one of the main features of the ADVC-100, you are now putting the load back on your CPU.

I use scenalyzerlive with my ADVC-100 FWIW.
If in doubt, Google it. -
Thanks for the reponse guys. I love my ADVC-100, but if it lets me capture my files at only 1000kbps, and there's no way that I can change the kbps in premiere . I want to capture at high bitrates.

did you or did you not comprehend what any of us have said ?
You don't "capture" DV - it is a file transfer, pure an simple. If you like premiere, transfer the files using WinDV or something similar, then import this into Premiere and you'll still be able to use it for your editing, minus the somewhat ridiculous bitrate limitation. If in doubt, Google it. -

If the file you are saving on your computer is really 1000 kbps (about 450 Kilo Bytes per hour) then your computer is converting the file to another format as it receives it from the ADVC-100. If that is the case, simply stop converting it.
