Problem with Sharp dv-sr3u PLEASE HELP

I bought new a Sharp dv-sr3u dvd recorder
The problem is that after one minute to 3 minutes of recording it shows a message "repairing disc" and stops recording; most of the time, if not always, there is nothing in the disc
I tried to initialize the disc on video mode and vr mode; no success
Used memorex and sony dvd-rw dvd's 1.1 compliant and both failed
Used auto settings to let the recorder do it alone: failure
Did a reset of the unit and unplugged it, still failing

Is there a "magical" media that no matter what any recorder accepts?
Is it the media or the recorder? what do you think?
Contacted Sharp and only gave me addresses where they sell parts and accesories....

Update about my problem
It seems to record OK on dvd-r discs; the problem might be only dvd-rw related
The recorder has failed with sony, memorex and fuji dvd-rw discs; any sugestions on a brand that works?
What is a high quality brand of dvd-rw disc to record video?

If you've tried Sony and Fuji, don't know what to suggest.

I have about 15-20 of the Fuji (bought from Best Buy) and 2 of the Sony (bought from Target) and haven't had a much problem with them.
