i used virtualdub to check for errors and the report i got back was: 127819 frames masked (2174 frames bad, 125645 frames good but undecodable)

    Is this the problem?

And also how do i know if my codecs are out of date and where can i update them?

    Thanks Again!

"Is this a problem?" Might be "cured" with a new version of codec, but I seriuosly suspect the best way to convert the AVI is to hold down shift, and drag it over to the trash can.

Use GSpot to find out which codec's used.
127819 frames is about the whole movie - you can't just remove them (which is the general trick if it's just a few)
Try DivFix and see if it will do the AVI any good.

OK. Trashcan, then, if it's not extremely precious to you.

  14. Last try. You may consider using avidemux 2 and simply resave the avi or maybe encode straight to DVD. Hopefuly it will work.
