    Hello,

I think my old pentium 200mhz had the ability for usb.

You're restricting factor will be the os. I don't think win 95 had USB support. win98 obviously does

    Hello,

Yeah as long as you've got win98 drivers for it you should be just fine

    Something to consider :

For a few $$ more than a USB PCI card you could get a socket 7 board with USB support AND perhaps a faster processor.
Just the other day infact I picked up a socket 7 board c/w on board sound AND an AMD K6-400 on it for $10

    166Mhz ! yikes - How much RAM ?

Sounds like this machine will struggle with your mum's digital camera.

    Hello,

    Yeah... software's a concern...

I did a digital camera on my old p200 with 32mb ram.... Loading was slow....

Be prepared for waiting... And you may have slow printing time

    Just a heads up

    Hello,

Sounds decent enough for an older system...

The USB2 will speed up the transfer of the files a lot

Just be prepared for slower than normal processing in some areas (compared to a p3 or newer of course ).

USB 2.0 will not work in win98se (transfer speeds - that is)
Requires XP SP1 or better - from memory.

    Hello,

You'll probably be happy with it.... Even if it's not blazing fast having usb pre installed is nice

    Good luck
