    Hi!

I just won a Hauppauge "roslyn" card on Ebay and was wondering if anyone knew if it is compatible with the capture app in Nerovision 3. I am looking for a simple hardware way to capture VHS tapes to MPEG2 for burning onto DVD. I would like to capture 4 hours of VHS footage per DVD using the Half DVD spec in NTSC.

    Any help will be appreciated...

Well, I got the Hauppauge Roslyn in and Nerovision recognizes it. But it also says it can't configure it giving me no picture or sound. I'm getting picture and sound using GPPVR and Snapstream BeyondTV.

Would uninstalling the Nero suite and reinstalling it now that a new capture card is in make it recognize it?

    Thanks!

No. Many programs that support capture cards don't support the Hauppauge cards that have a hardware MPEG encoder. Another thing, you will probably have sync problems when capturing VHS. The only software solution that works for me is to edit with VideoReDo.

  4. Use the Hauppauge WinTV2000 application (download from www.hauppauge.com) to capture and save to a file. Open the file with Nerovision.

exactly...best to use wintv2000 that came with card or usb2 box to capture as will work flawlessly and always in sync.

also, without a doubt last post is correct about editing the mpg2 files...make sure to use videoredo program or do edits from within tmpgenc dvd author as those are only programs i've found to keep audio in sync...especially if you're editing a long video like 1.5hrs+. i've been through all the tech support with womble and their products just don't handle the audio sync with the hauppauge caps for some reason if editing deep into a large file/long video. videoredo tech support by the author is 2nd to none and it always works like a charm. have fun!

    Hey!

Thanks for the responses! Unfortunately, WinTV2000 will not work with the Roslyn card at least according to Hauppauge. I haven't downloaded it to see. Nerovision doesn't support Hardware encoder cards, so I will have to use another app to get the video captured.

I've never ever heard of the Hauppauge Roslyn capture card. I am familiar with other Hauppauge products though.

I went to the Hauppauge and it is not listed?

Is it really new or really old?

It's new. It's an OEM only card made by Hauppauge that mainly ships with XP MCE I believe. Snapstream is marketing the roslyn card along with their BeyondTV software under the name WinTVPVR250-BTV.

I'm having so so results with Beyond TV and the card. I was mainly wanting just a video capture program with basic scheduling options so I could capture and still do a bit of multi-tasking. BeyondTV is like a full-fledged PVR and that's not really what I was interested in.

Thanks SHS! I just downloaded it and it looks good. I still have to figure out how to configure settings but then I should be set.
