  1. Is there an easy way To put a couple of things on the same dvd? I have the VIDEO_TS folders I authored using mpeg2works and Sizzle. Using Toast 6 to burn. I know this must seem like a simple thing to ask. Just don't want to use up blanks for short subject matter. Thanks as always

You can drag both of the VIDEO_TS Folders to Toast 6 using the DVD Video setting (not the DVD-video from VIDEO_TS). The movies will show in the Toast Title window along with a couple things you'll want to delete. Change the description of the Titles to something that makes sense and burn the new DVD.

  3. I usually make a folder as in MY_MOVIE_DVD with VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS and drag that to Toast under data tab. Would I put both VIDEO_TS folders and AUDIO_TS in the main folder? Any simple way to have a menu or am I asking the impossible? Thanks

If you put your VIDEO_TS folder into another folder and burn that in the data tab, it won't play in a DVD player.

The suggestion I made results in Toast authoring a new VIDEO_TS folder that has a title menu of the videos from your other VIDEO_TS Folders. Toast basically treats the VOB sets as MPEG video. Toast adds the AUDIO_TS folder as part of its authoring process so you don't need to do anything other than drag the folders to Toast so it can find the videos.

  5. Thanks Frobozz. I've never tried burning more than one VIDEO_TS at a time. I tried DVD2ONE in join mode but the app kept quitting on me.

Join is the only way i would know to do that, unless like it was said above with the data dvd and viewing it on comptuer only.

you should look into why dvd2one is quitting on you. I have had it do sizzle disks many times with no problems

    galactica,

Using DVD2One to join the folders is the way to do it if you'll need to compress the results to fit on a DVD. However, if you drag a VIDEO_TS from your hard drive to the Toast Video Window with DVD Video selected, you'll see that Toast acts like you just dropped an MPEG movie in the window that you want to burn to DVD. In other words there is no need to join the VOBs. You can do this with as many VIDEO_TS folders as you want until you run out of space.

  9. I am going to try this today. I have, however used the method I described earlier using a folder with VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS with the data tab/DVD that plays on standalone DVD player. I did find out earlier today that 2 folders I was trying to burn onto DVD couldn't be done by toast cause one was PAL and the other wasn't

It's interesting that this worked. The VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders have to be at the top level of the DVD, so putting them inside another folder should have caused some difficulty. Prior to Toast 6.0.7 it was necessary to click New Disc in the Toast Data tab before adding the VIDEO_TS folder, so maybe your parent folder took the place of the New Disc step.

In Toast 6.0.7 the New Disc is automatically added when you drag in a VIDEO_TS folder and Toast automatically adds an AUDIO_TS folder when you click the burn button. However, it may still work to do it your way as long as you don't click New Disc before dragging in your parent folder.

    I've learned something new today.

  12. Frobozz,
Thanks for your innovation but I do have a couple of quick questions. In your original suggestion of dropping several VIDEO_TS folders into the DVD-Video option of Toast's Video Tab, you said that I should rename things and delete other things. Can you elaborate a little on this especially the deleting part.

2nd, timewise, which is faster: joining the VIDEO_TS folders in DVD2ONE or the Toast method? Thanks a ton.

When I drag a VIDEO_TS folder to Toast's DVD-video option Toast shows at least two titles. One is the movie, which you can tell by seeing its time length. The other is a title menu which has no or little time length. You only want the movie so you should select and delete the other one. There may be more than these two titles showing because your VIDEO_TS may include multiple titles. Just select any that you don't want and click your delete key.

As for renaming, Toast gives your movie the fun title of VIDEO_TS_01_1 or something to that effect. You probably want the title to be the name of your movie. So click on the name given by Toast and change it to what makes sense to you.

As for what is faster I don't see how adding the extra step with DVD2One can be faster than just letting Toast take care of this by itself. However, if you need to compress the size of your video to fit on the DVD then you must use DVD2One before dragging the video to Toast.

FYI: Roxio just came out with a DVD copying and compression application called Popcorn. However, it doesn't work with multiple VIDEO_TS folders.
