  1. I have a Pioneer DVD player in my 04 Z71 Suburban. I have tried Sony DVD-r, Radius DVD +R, Taiyo Yuden Silver Thermal +R, and Memorex -R, in attempting to find the HOLY GRAIL of dvd discs that will work.

For all of the discs, I changed the bitset to DVD-ROM prior to burning with DvdDecrypter. I have been ripping with DVD Shrink 3.2.

The Memorex discs will always start playing, but freezes after about 5 minutes.
    The Radius will sometimes work.
All the others either just sit there and spin and come up with nothing, or the word "FORMAT ERROR" appears on the screen.

Pioneer says that player is made by someone else especially for GM...therefore it appears to be a propriatary player that has no model # and Pioneer isnt claiming.

I am going broke trying to find the right discs to burn so the kids can watch some flicks in the truck. Any insight or suggestions (other than taking a freakin hammer to the player) would really be appreciated.

    thanks and peace,
    jay

  2. What speed do you burn at? Have you tried burning slower?

  4. I use Prodiscs myself. I had a few complaints about discs I burned on my previous burner, an LG, having playback problems. I haven't had any problems since switching to NEC. I don't suppose you have a different burner you could try?

  5. ok...

    I have a Micro Advantage 8x...

If I had a choice between these two, which one would be preferable...

    Sony16x or
    Lite-On 16x

    thanks

  6. Have to ask someone else on that one, I am fairly new to this myself. Pioneer and NEC are the best from everything I've seen. After owning products by both companies, I think the quality of NEC stuff is better.

You said you tried Taiyo Yuden DVD+R but you probably will have better luck with the Taiyo Yuden DVD-R discs.

I have a Pioneer DVD player that is GREAT model but it is an early model DVD player and as such it very picky with when playing back CD-R and DVD-R media.

Has no problems with Taiyo Yuden CD-R and Taiyo Yuden DVD-R

It also likes the CD-R and DVD-R media that MAXELL makes (but only the MADE IN JAPAN branded MAXELL media).
