  1. Hi, i here with a "novice" question again..

    sorry ya

I have this 2 avi file, which i manged to merge them into one using virtualDub taught by fellow expert here.

SO e next thing i did was to convert the avi into DVD output.
    I tried usingWinavi , e result a file more than 4.9Gb..

    ( took around 50min)

Thus me went to try tmpgenc XP...but which was veri slow. *in e process now* ( I est time will be 3-4hrs at least)

May I ask why e conversion time of 2 diff program is such a big diff ?

Will the est file size shown at TMpgenc reliable ? i really don wish to wait for such a long conversion time end up File size is more than wat a DVD disc can handle...

    Pls advise

    Hello,

Well you could use a bitrate calculator:

    https://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=1#1

That might let you get closer to your target - and try to have the value a little less than the projected number to ensure you'll have it fit.

    ALSO:

Author it anyway and use dvdshrink to make it fit. You'll lose a little quality but you wouldn't have to reencode it at least

Because they are two different programs, written by two different people (teams?) using differnt tools, different designs and with differnt aims.

If your source is good enough quality, you will see that TmpGenc will almost certainly produce a better looking mpeg than winavi. Thats where some of the extra processing time goes!
