Hello, I have a nice question to expert guys !
Few days ago I installed an HD SATA Maxtor 200 Gb on my PC.
Before of this, I had only a ATA drive (40pin connector) and when I installed
to PRI SATA (simply 1 hd non in array) of my K8v motherboard suddenly I saw a reduction of speed of Windows expecially to the start and to the close (about 30 sec.).
Win is still loaded ON ATA drive. How can I fix this problem ?
Only installing Win to SATA drive ?
The SATA drive works properly.
Thanks in advance ...

Well, if Windows is still on the ATA then you probably should not expect a speed increase... Install OS on the SATA and then it should speed boot and general performance. Or, you can try just putting the swap/paging file on the SATA and see how it works...

Of course i cannot expect a speed increase.
What I kindly ask is : why when I start my OS now, with also a SATA drive, I need about 30 sec more between the blu window of XP and the system become operative ?
How can I move the swap file on the SATA ?
Thanks ! -
The settings you require for this are found in System Properties -> Advanced -> Performance Settings -> Advanced -> Virtual Memory Change... Phew.
You'll want to disable the swap file on your existing drive by choosing No Paging File. Enable a swap file on your new drive by selecting Custom Size and set the Initial Size and Maximum Size to twice your system memory size. Ok everything then reboot as requested and your set.
Oh you might want to clear everything off the new drive first. This will ensure that the swap file is created at the beggining of the drive where it is fastest, as well as create a swap file with no fragments.
