Dead motherboard?

I stopped by a little computer store here in northern Japan today and found a fairly new Gigabyte GA-8IK1100 listed for 1000 yen (roughly $10). It was in the "junk" section (no warranty, no return, etc). I took it to the counter and they were able to tell me that the BIOS was corrupted (or something to that effect). I bought it anyway. I noticed it has some wierd "Dual BIOS" arrangement. My initial thought was someone just didn't know how to properly set up or flash the BIOS. What do you think? Is it possible for a fairly new motherboard to be "ruined" from a BIOS problem? I would think it could be flashed right?

You could try and flash the bios.

If the bios chip itself was bad, they would not be selling it.

there is a jumper setting that will reset everything, i would try that first.

I had a dual BIOS Gigabyte board. When it boots, it gives you a choice to use the back up BIOS. Either way, you should be able to reset it, unless the board itself is fried.

Unfortunately, there won't be any "taking it back." It was in the "junk" section. A lot of times folks gets frustrated when they can't figure something out, so they just dump it (these are people with a lot more money than me). I usually swoop in and find good bargains that way. I did some research on google and found that apparantly you can ruin a BIOS. They sell replacement chips, but mine is soldered in. Oh well, I'll just build up another computer and if it I can't flash it, I'll buy a cheap ATX board off ebay or newegg...
