    Hallo

I am about to buy a new DVD writer and come to two models
    Pioneer A08 or NEC 3500 A

I already have a Pioneer A106 and know the quality of pioneer
But I read many favourable reviews of NEC 3500
So also NEC 3500 is retail at 99 € here in Germany and Pioneer Retail A108 is at 133 €
So my question is Is Pioneer so basically different and qualitatively better than NEC to pay so much higher
And will I miss some great feature if I choose NEC 3500
    PLease help

The Pioneer is usually a bit higher. But nothing like you have described. At these prices, no big thinking here and go with the 3500.

Another drive to consider would be the BenQ 1620. It supports error scanning (checks the quality of a recording).

I have the NEC, but had I known more about the BenQ at the time, I would have chosen it instead of the NEC.
