Media was purchase from CompUSA with a media code of INFOME..R20 The package said it was 4X media, but the media code says that it is 8X. I have upgraged my Sony drive to the Ricoh 5125A v1.72 firmware which is supposed to handle 8X media. The problem is that Nero starts the burn, writing the lead in, but then stops with a invalid media error. I'm using Nero 5.5 Could this be part of the problem?
Thanks

I'm not familiar with that media but the best thing to do is to try a different burning program and different media. You should be able to isloate the problem doing this. If I were to guess I would say that it would be the media.

you might try to flash it to safe mode,(i know the pioneer drives can be flashed like this, thus saving a "dead"drive)
also,it may be that the "x8" compatibility may not support those discs, with that media code. -
