dvdauthor gui and tmpegenc mpg files

I hope more people with thank me than curse me, but I've looked in guides and forums for several hours now and cannot find an answer to a simple question.

I am trying to be a good lad and use the free dvdauthor gui from borax but it requires m2v files. TmpegencPlus produces mpeg2 video but it reads as mpg. Therefore dvdauthor gui will not find it as a source.

What do I do? I figure the file is ready for authoring since I've already made a great dvd with Tmpeg's trial dvdauthor. Is a conversion necessary? Any other free way to author a dvd with ac3 sound if I can't use dvdauthor?

Sorry if this is all over the forum, but I tried every search cue words I could think of.

Demultiplex the mpeg to elemantary streams m2v,mpa(separate audio and video files). You can use tmpgenc to do that, under file->mpeg tools->simple demultiplex.

Gotcha! I wondered whether is was a Tmpegenc thing. Frustrating when you've gone through the pain of mastering vcd's, then have to almost start again once you get a dvd burner.
