OK, here's the scenario, 2 x avi files....
I tried joining the AVI files together and then converting to MPEG2/AC3 etc...
There was a bad join in the middle - audio was always missing from 2nd half.

So, I've converted them to 2 MPEG files and AC3 files.
I was going to join them together, but after reading several posts about this being unnecessary, I thought I'd ask how I can make the DVD play each MPEG file immediately after each other using GUI FOR DVDAUTHOR.
The posts mention using TDA for the authoring, but I prefer free software.

Is it possible to achieve the same thing with GUI FOR DVDAUTHOR (which I have used before)

    Thanks.

  2. You can. But there will probably be a short pause between the titles.
Open the default project settings, turn off the 'Use Titlesets' option and use 'Next Title' as End action for titles and titlesets. Then just add the two files and test.

    Thanks for the reply.
I've followed your instructions and done the authoring....

(there was a problem with the ac3 audio file from the 2nd half, but after running it through BeSliced/BeSplit, it was fixed - perhaps this could've been the solution to the original problem I had with this movie!)

The DVD output has been produced, and works fine in VLC - there is a small delay when swapping files.

I'll burn it to disk and see what the results are in a REAL DVD player.

Thanks again for your help (and for producing a great program - "GUI for dvdauthor")
    Steve.

Try Virtualdub for joining and then convert to MPEG2/AC3

The DVD plays fine - there is only a VERY SMALL delay between the files.

There is one slightly annoying feature about using the "2 titles" solution though.... When trying to go back a chapter (auto-created every 10 mins in both "titles") from the 2nd "title" to the first "title", it jumps back to the start of the first title (not the last chapter - ie previous chapter to "title 2")
I assume this is the expected behaviour and not something I've done ?

    Thanks again.

@milway - that was the original attempt I made, and the audio was missing in the 2nd half... I now think the audio was slightly broken because I had the same problem with the 2nd MPEG file - BeSliced/BeSplit sorted it though.
I guess I could go back and join the AVI's (after fixing the audio) and convert the 1 file.

Yes. And there is no workaround except joining the files. The most easy solution (with freeware!) is to join the files with mpeg2schnitt or cuttermaran. Both programs use elementary mpeg2 and ac3 or mp2 files and have the possibility to repair a small audio delay. No need to join the AVI's and reconvert.
