  1. Is "Superman: The Movie" super encrypted? I can't seem to get it using DVD Decrypter or DVD43. Same with the new Star Wars IV DVD.

I don't have the Superman DVD but it's probably encrypted and plenty of people have ripped SW IV

I dno't think SW IV has the 'new' protection on it but do you have the latest version of DVDDecrypter amyway and what is the exact error you are getting?

if you have the latest version of DVDDecrypter then it sounds like it could be 2 things. Either both the DVD's are faulty/scratched or your DVD drive is on the way out

    Hi rtren,

I think I read in a thread recently that if you play the DVD on your PC (WinDVD, PowerDVD etc.) and try to rip either while it's playing or just after you've stopped it, that that might help.

I've no idea if this is BS or not - but thought I'd mention it just in case...

Cheers for the clarification MackemX - another little something to tuck away in my knowledge store...

  7. Thanks for your responses.
I dont' recall the DVD Decrypter error but will try again. I'm using 3.5.1.0 which I believe is the latest vrsion.
I use DVD Shrink all the time and it had a problem with Superman.
I will try playing the disc and see if that helps. I recall an earlier piece of software that required that procedure before ripping and it worked.

The "play it first then rip it" thing DOES work, but it simply highlights what is likely a system misconfiguration.

That's just my take on it - I've never had to deal with it on any of my personal machines, but on machines that DID require that, after I redid them they no longer required that.

It could also be your burner, or motherboard, or a combination thereof.

  10. I just did both movies and they work like a champ. I used DVDdecrypter and then used DVD2DVD-R.
