What is 1394. Is that firewire, I thought it was, am I wrong? If so what is the difference between fire & 1394. I have an HP Pavilion 7955, would I have a 1394 connection?
One other question, I just bought a HDD and am looking to buy an external case, for an extern HDD. How do I know if it is a 2.5", 3.5", 5.25" in size? It's a seagate 160GB

Firewire = IEEE1394 = iLink
Depends on who's mentioning it. It's all the same.
I have no idea if your laptop has it. Look in the back or side for a small, almost square cutout for a tiny connector. It has a little notch in the middle on one side.
Chances are if your laptop has it, it'll be the 4-wire small jack instead of the 6-wire larger one. The larger one is about the same size as a USB jack, but the small FW connector is much smaller and a dead giveaway -

Bottom front of your computer. Look underneath the flap. You should have a couple of USB ports and a firewire (1394) port.

thanks everyone. I knew that my comp had usb and firewire, but I just wasn't sure if 1394 was also known as firewire, or if it was a whole other connection type. And thanx for the HDD info Capmaster
