I have enjoyed using the ATI All in Wonder cards. I have the 9200 AIW. Cost for it is around 100.00 US. You can get the newer cards for less than 300.00. The 9200 comes with 128mb ram on board. I have played a few games with it and have had no issues.

  3. I have a Gainward Ti4200 VIVO Golden Sample w/128MB of Ram - captures to AVI which means you have to convert formats, but the quality is excellent.

Their newest card with the same features is the 5950 w/256 MB of ram, I'd like to upgrade as well but it's a bit pricey right now. You can find the 4200 on eBay at a reasonable cost.

Just want to capture, minor game play (800x600 max and DX8 and down) - AIW 9000

Excellent Game play (up too DX9 - 1024x768 max), FM Tuner best "value" out there - AIW 9600XT

Unparalled Game Play + Capture - AIW 9800 or X800

Can't go wrong with ATI products just install the drivers and software correctly and you'll have no problems.
