  1. Here is my problem:

    Download 2 part avi movie...
Join with Vdub to get 1...
Use Winavi to convert to dvd format...
Then burn as a dvd with nero smart start...

The problem I see is during the last half of the movie the audio sync goes a couple of seconds out.
I watched the two original avi files and there was NO sync issues. I then watched the joined avi after using vdub...I found that where the two were joined from that point on...there WAS sync issues!!
So I thought NOT a problem...I will take the 2 avi files and load them into winavi and convert them to dvd format files and then join the two clips together using dvd shrink to make one and I would be good to go still....
HOWEVER when I looked at the dvd files of the 2nd file using powerdvd IT WAS STILL OUT OF SYNC...

How do I fix this?? Please help me out

  2. Is the audio in your AVI file Variable Bitrate MP3?, if so, that could be the problem...

  3. Audio : 0.0 B, 128 Kbps, 44100 Hz, 2 channels, 0x55 = MPEG Layer-3, Supported

    Video : 0.0 B, 0 Kbps, 24.0 fps, 352*160 (2.21:1), MP43 = MS MPEG4 V3, Supported

This is what it says when using avicodec.......Do I need to use vdub to save the wav file from it or something else or what can I do?

  4. Load the AVI file into Virtualdub, if it has a variable bitrate MP3 soundtrack then it will give you a warning. If it does then, you need to demux the audio as WAV and multiplex with the video (using Virtualdub). This will make the AVI file about twice as large, but it should solve any sync problems...

  5. Never Ever join avi together. Just convert the file to mpeg2 separately then use dvdlab or dvdlab pro to author to DVD. This way there will be no audio sync issue. If you convert it separately and import to DVDLAB, you will alway see the audio file always 1 or 2 sec longer than the video files. So if you join the file before you convert, that where the audio sync issue come in.

  6. many thanks to all...I am going to give that a shot and see what happens.

I decompressed the audio using the decompressor that comes with avi2vcd to get two pcm avi file out of the two avi files that I had and I had NO sync trouble....Then when I joined with vdub I got the trouble again...So I am trying to decompress that......I am going to try dvdlab to see what happens?

    Will post the results
