I've got a powerpoint presentation that I would like to put on DVD. Since it is a powerpoint presentation, I can adjust resolutions and any slides to meet the requirements that encoding in anamorphic widescreen would present. How can I take this powerpoint presentation and encode to mpeg in a way that would allow it to be anamorphic and allow me to use the 16:9 enhancement features on my Sony TV?

the resolution for 16:9 and 4:3 video is the same, 720x480. The ideal way would be to make your frame size as I stated, and encode in 16:9. BUT ALSO what you would do is set the frames so that the left and right edges of the slides do not have critical info. This way, when you author the DVD you will set the DVD to use pan and scan if viewed in 4:3 mode. 4:3 mode will cut off the edge info, 16:9 mode will show everything. This is a good method because then the presentation takes up the whole screen on either mode. Or if you don't care about 4:3 mode then just author the DVD to show letterbox in 4:3 mode and don't worry about putting non-essential stuff in the left and right edges.
