I`ve done heaps of encoding but now have struck a problem. I`ve just updated my direct x and video codecs to rectify video stutteriness,(if thats a real word) and now the video is fine but after encoding the video into mpeg1 format i find that it has no sound.

In the past i`ve encoded both audio and video in the one instance and have had no probs with the out come, i`ve even tried unistalling and reinstalling TMPGenc and even reboot several times but still no good. The other thing is TMPGenc seems very slow in reacting after you do all the settings and then pressing start. It takes a good 30secs or more before it begins, another prob i`ve never come across before.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and i apologise in advance if i`ve posted this in the wrong forum, and thanks in advance for any future help on this issue.

    Hi Balderick,

Thanks for the suggestions. I`ve just downloaded codecs actually some codecs packs, that was mainly to figure out the video side of things. I haven`t tried converting the audio to wave. I have tried the direct show priority though and no difference. I think i`ll try the priority settings again first, then if that don`t work i`ll try uninstalling all the codecs i`ve downloaded recently and only add the ones i need, i did however go through the link for Common TMPGenc problems and tried a few things with no success so please don`t think that i`ve jumped the gun and asked a question to get out of it easily. Ive racked my brain for the last couple of days with the video problems no i`ve fixed that and stuffed something else. Anyway thanks again i`ll let you know how i go

What shape is the audio in? (What codec?) It's not easy to make TMPGEnc accept AC3 as audio input - You're much better off making a habit of ectracting and decoding the AVI audio to wav file before starting encoding...

Hi, the audio is in great shape, through windows media player it sounds great, as i`ve said i`ve never had this trouble, i mean i`ve never had to separate audio and video before until now. It`s always accepted AC3 audio, i`ve tried just now going into virtual dub mp3 freeze, set video and audio to direct stream copy and saved out a new avi. I will try loading this into TMPGEnc and see what the out come is. But hey any input and help that has been given has been greatly appreciated so, Thank you

Doesn't mean a thing in respect to what TMPGEnc can do with it.
virtual dub mp3 freeze, set video and audio to direct stream copy and saved out a new avi.[/quote]Doesn't do much useful, except possibly removing bad/undecodable frames in the original AVI, but that doesn't seem to be the problem here...

If you are using ffdshow, see my recent post:
    https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=241636

ffdshow 20041012 seems to have some issues. I've posted the same in the afterdawn.com forum, and at least one user has fixed their audio problem the same way.
