Using Tmpgenc Dvd Author 1.6. Each time i add video, the program does not load it right away. It acts though the program has froze, in 'windows task manager' says the program has 'stopped responding'. and the process keeps rising up, up to 400,000 kb, then itll start to drop. when it goes down to a few thousand kb then the screen w/ 'edit clip' tab comes up. The whole process takes about 45 secs to one minute.

Im using mpeg1 files from 200 - 400MB. It has never taken more than 2 seconds to load in 1.5 but in 1.6 it takes forever. Has anyone run into this same problem? or anyone know how to fix it? This really spoils it for authoring in 1.6 for me.

Sounds more like a RAM problem to me...

actually it not the ram. if you read what i wrote. you would have known that i have both versions of TDA installed and that doesnt happen on 1.5 , just 1.6

768mb of ram, of possible factors involved, definitely not the ram.

  4. I'm having the same problem and I've got 1 Gig of ram.

I haven't used the program in a while but I got the same lag response in version 1.5 and now in 1.6.

I'm wondering if it's a XPSP2 issue or another conflict.

I will check for the latest DirectX.

I don't have any idea what the problem is, but I doubt it's an SP2 issue. I'm using SP2 (and also used 1.6 with SP1) and it loads a 400 meg file (mpeg1 or mpeg 2) in about 3 seconds.

  7. For me, it was with both versions and the sluggishness was not only when I added the clips. It was when I was also browsing for the clips.

I found the process igfxext.exe to be exploding in terms of CPU usage until the task completed.

I found this file in C:\windows\system32, deleted it, and the problem is gone. I backed it up just in case the rest of my system barks or dies, for that matter. For now, it seems fine.

I don't know if that was result of some spy app or what!

Now I can author my family DV clips and move on.
