  1. Hi everyone,

I had just bought a bunch of Prodisc 8X DVD-R from supermediastore.com, coded ProdiscF01. I used it with Plextor 712A, firmware 1.05, burning at 8X.

The first disc I burned would pause and skip in PowerDVD; and Plextools reported many errors on the media as well. I have never had that happen before with Prodisc -- did I get a bad batch of discs? My previous purchases of 4X Prodisc were perfect, so I decided to stay with the same brand. Does anyone have similar experiences? I'd hate to be stuck with them (bought 200 because of the price.) Should I exchange them for the 4X instead?

(I don't think the Plextor is the problem, since I used it to burn Maxell discs before the Prodisc (albeit at 4X instead of 8X) and have never had any problems.)

    Thanks in advance...

  2. That is strange, especially from a writer of Plextor's calibre. I personally LOVE these discs. I have an LG 4120 and the first batch of diss I got were absolute GARBAGE (Starmedia 4x, checked media compatibilty here and it got thumbs down) I went looking for some RITEK/RIDATA discs around here after hearing they were very good, but they were sold out. The salesguy pointed these ProDisc F01's saying they were good, but after my initial experience, I was hesitant to buy a 50 pack. He gave in to my concerns and sold me 10, just to try. I have no problems burning at 8x with these discs and they play on any player I have tried so far. If you live in Canada, and are still having trouble with these discs, maybe I will buy them from ya?

  3. I did another test burn last night, but brought the speed down to 4X instead of 8X, and this time it seems OK -- Plextool scanned the end product and did not find any errors. These are supposed to be 8X discs though -- I really want to take advantage of the higher speed.

I don't see much discussions about these F01's in the forums, I must be the only few who had problems with them...

(And I'm not in Canada, sorry.)
