Ok. I'm 1 outta 5 successful with Legacy DVD-R's. The very fist disc in the pack worked and none else thus far. I tried different burning programs and still no success. The logs always give me some Check Condition error or Illegal Request or somthign about command order.

I used one of my old TDK DVD-R disc and whala it works. Now, this disc was only 2x so it could've been due to lower write speeds, but seeing how the first Legacy disc I used worked on 4x, I'm almost positive it wasy my media. Anyone have answers or suggestions for this? On the site they were bough from (newegg) there are many user reviews saying they work quite well. So anything you can tell me would be appreciated.

Legacy media is crappy to begin with. I wouldn't use the customer reviews to purchase dvd media from newegg. You want good quality dvd media from newegg then purchase taiyo yuden from them.

    $33.00 for DVD-R 4x speed.

Use PLEXTOR'S RECOMMENDED BRANDS OF MEDIA that they support

Although a brand may be on the COMPATIBLE list of dvd media does not mean it will work well with the PLEXTOR 712 drive.
