  1. I have winXP pro and I'm using this guide:

    https://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?guideid=214#214

    I used:

    SmartRipper
    DVD2AVI
    TMPGE

I saved the D2V files and then TMPGE can open them.
    Can someone help?
    thanks.

  2. one thing you want to do is make sure you unzipped the dvd2avi files in the same directory as tmpgenc.

if that still does not work, try raising the directshow priority to 1 or 2.

  3. thanks for the input.
I did your advice and won't works either.
I use this guide many times before and always works.
Now that I want to convert just 1 movie, won't work.

    I will keep trying.

  4. Hello Rigo,
The link you gave is really a link to other links. Each link is for a different guide. Exactly which one are you using? Have you tried using the VFAPI converter to make a dummy avi? You may be able to open the dummy file in TMPG.

  5. yeah that vfapi file needs to be in the same directory as tmpgenc.

the vfapi plugin comes with dvd2avi. you need to make sure both dvd2avi.exe and dvd2avi.vfp file is in the same directory as tmpgenc.
once you have that done, create a new d2v file and feed it into tmpgenc.

also make sure vfapi plugin is installed. you should find it in the same area where you raise direct show.

Did you rename or you relocated your source files?
    If so, that's the problem

The other I can imagine, is that TMPGenc's own vfapi pluggin, doesn't load to TMPGenc when you run the application. Maybe you need to re-install TMPGenc

  8. Gabest, creator of Media Player Classic, created a DirectShow Filter to allow playback of D2V files. Unless you have the filter, or Media Player Classic, you won't be able to playback D2V files.

You also might consider installing the VFAPI codec. It allows communication between VFAPI plugins and applications that support the VFAPI standard. (TMPGEnc, AviUtl, VFAPI Convert)

Smart Ripper, by the way, outputs a D2V file, that can be played back with Media Player Classic, unless, you relocated, or renamed your source files as SatStorm pointed out.

  9. I did averything that you guys recommended, but nothing,I don't get it,because I made many vcd movies in the past with this same method, but now TMPGnc refuse to open that D2V file,I can play the D2V file in my PowerDVD software.
I removed averything and started from scratc again, and nothing,in my first setting I noticed that the fapi plug in was not there,so I downloaded a new version and installed in the same TMPGEnc directory, the VFAPI file is there but TMPGEnc won't open the D2V file.
