  1. How can I put my AVI to a CD in DVD Quality? I've got a small 5 minute clip so I want it good quality. My PS2 dosn't play VideoCds so I figured if I could burn a CD like a DVD and with DVD quality it would play it.

    You could make a minidvd.

It would hold about ten to fifteen minutes worth of video.

I doubt that your PS2 will play any video on cd, no matter how you burn it. But its worth a try.

First of all, you ain't never gonna get DVD quality from an .avi-file.
Secondly, if you want it to work on an unchipped (and maybe even chipped) Ps2 you need to burn it to dvd-r or dvd+r.

If you have Nero and NeroVision Express - make miniDVD. It should play in PS2.
Open NeroVision Express, go to Make CD...miniDVD...ad your video file and the wizzard will guide you through next steps.
MiniDVD has the same structure as normal DVD, but is smaller and burnt on CD.
The quality should be the same as your original video.

Are you saying that an AVI encoded to MPEG2 is not the proper way to acheive good video? PLEASE then tell me what is!

Really? What if his AVI is DV from his camcorder? What if it's 1280x720 HD MPEG 4 from a movie. What if it's uncompressed RGB from a 3D rendering program?

    First, please define "DVD quality"
Secondly, what fomat do you think the proffesional use before finally rendering to mpeg-2 for DVD. Some use avi

If what you meant was something like "you will not achieve the same quality as a commercial DVD if your starting point is a movie in a downloaded 700Mb divx", then I would agree with you, but otherwise your statement is too sweeping to be meaningful.

Most of the standalone DVD players are labeled in the front panel with "DVD /VCD/SVCD/CD-R/CD-RW" capability.
It's not the same laser beam that burns a DVD (635 nm) than the one burns a CD (780 nm) see comparison table at: http://www.videointerchange.com/dvd.htm so reader laser isn't the same, but PS2 can read both of them http://www.ps2.geek.nz/site.dyn/Specs/

The best way to know is try, try to burn a miniDVD and tell us. I tryed with my SAMSUNG DVD player multiformat and failed.

Okay I know, if you have 1280x720 HD MPEG 4 then you'll propably get pure dvd quality, but I don't count DV avi as DVD quality, 'cause the source has lower res than DVD.

And by DVD quality I mean quality like the movies you buy from your local store, aka. the source has to be better than the dvd

Wrong DV avi is exactly the same res a full D1 DVD. That is 720 * 480 for NTSC and 720 * 576 for PAL.

I admit, DV shot by a home user will not approach the quality a pro will get with 35mm film or pro video equipment, but its got nothing to do with the resolution.

For someone who claims to be a "GodOfKnowledge" I think you must have skipped a few pages in the encyclopedia
