Your's looks better I must admit. I love dark beer. You might want to get around those corners of the fridge with some cleaner.

I apologize in advance: my "******* badge" is on when it comes to critiquing photos...

coalman, it's blurry. Sorry, man, not impressed. They're "photos" too, not pictures. You draw pictures.

thayne, that's just a snapshot. With a wide angle lens, a macro focus, and a lighting setup that killed the fridge into pure white, that could very well quite an interesting photo. More than the sunset even. Everybody does sunsets, so boring.

Conquest, kid in water is nice.

I wish I could post some of mine. Unfortunately, the model releases do not cover this, and on others I'm not the copyright holder (works for hire).

Here's one I shot recently, was outside testing the new camera battery. I actually had not expected the little sucker to fly away on this shot, so it's cropped too tight, clipping off the wing. Oh well. I don't really shoot much "for fun" to be honest. To me, cameras are work (enjoyable work!). The depth of field is also a bit shallow. Again, he was on the flower when I set up, focus tracking locked him at movement, flower suffered from it.

^ That's why I don't shoot wildlife. I tried getting a bee the other day and it impossible with the shallow DOF and the speed of it flying around. Babies are another that are almost impossible.

I love to shoot everything at f/2.8. But it can be a real pain on wildlife! I've got a good bumblebee picture somewhere. Almost got stung too. I remember that one well.

Here's that bee. I had to search several drives:

Forgive the scan quality. This was done quite a few years ago. For a cleaner image, and better dark shades, I'd have to rescan the negative. This is not really that great of an image. It's decent maybe. Interesting probably. Bees stay on a flower for about 1 second max, so the sheer difficulty of these kinds of images is really all that is impressive, to be quite honest. I could probably do much better with a bee situation today.

These were f/3.5, 50mm, macro filter +5 to +7 range, 400 ISO (accounts for the grain, enhanced by the old scanner)

I wonder if Baldrick rolls his eyes or just sighs when he sees thread topics like this one..

    Yea...bees are tough.
This bee WAS perfectly centered and focused....now all you see is his ass.

Three-way tie. I like each of these equally for different reasons:

Taos Indian Pueblo - Taos, New Mexico (note mica windows):

Old Egyptian man in alley in Old Coptic Cairo, Egypt (those walls predate Christ):

Great Sphinx and Khufu's Pyramid - Giza, Cairo, Egypt:

In Egypt? No. Only law enforcement are legally allowed to own guns.

That's a briefcase, I believe. He was apparently making his way to work and took a shortcut through the alley in front of us. That alley is alongside the St. Sergius Church - where the holy family had fled to from King Herod's decree. They ended up living in Egypt until the "all clear" was relayed to them a couple of years later.

Thanks hech. We had just come through a couple of ancient doors into the alley, and were in a sort of tunnel, and all of a sudden that scene appeared and I thought "Whoooaaaaa!" Since I already had my handy Canon Powershot on my belt for a day's worth of shooting, it only took about 2 seconds to grab it before it got away.

I think it was the wall texture, the contrast of an old guy wearing a fairly modern suit, and the lighting that struck me. The pic still doesn't do the scene justice, but at least I got it

This is a waaaay shrunk down copy to fit here. The full sized one has all the textures intact.

I have a pretty shitty 640x480 digital camera. Also, I am a pretty bad photographer. Here is a picture from a series I did before I changed around the furniture that I made to remember how the room looked originally. This is NOT the nicest picture I ever took but it probably is the nicest one I have available that doesn't also include faces of loved ones who I would not want to be posted on the internet.

And here's another for an eBay auction from a while ago.

  30. Here is one of my favorites. It's two pictures combined. The shot of Max was in my bedroom, and the beach is Marina Beach near Monterey.
