I'm trying to convert WMV (bane of all evil) to AVI (DIVX). In this tutorial

https://www.videohelp.com/forum/archive/t115913.html

It says if I want to use MP3 and not go out of sink, I should know my tools (Virtualdub, hint hint). And that's all it says. Um. Ok. So I guess my question is, since I don't know my tools all THAT well.

If I have a good video stream, but my audio stream is PCM, how can I use virtual dub to re-write the AVI file without re-encoding the video stream—just the audio stream?

In looking at all the WMV-AVI converters, which one is the most widely used by members of this forum?

Using STOIK, I'm unsure what DIVX settings it's trying to use. I'm never prompted to modify them.
