    Hi

I noticed that after using Clone DVD copying a movie that was 140 minutes degradad the picture heavily.I would like to know if is it possible maybe to re-encode the movie so that it can have a clearer picture and still retain original DVD menu and a 5.1 channel?

    Cheers

If you still have the original, you could try DVD Rebuilder with CCE. This will give you very good quality and let you keep everything else. If all you have is this poor quality version, then no. You can't put back what you have already taken out.

If you look up DVD Rebuilder in the ttols section (or click on the name in this post), you should also get a list of guides. It can be a little tricky to get up and running at first, but it is one of the few (almost) one click solutions that actually encodes, rather than transcodes the video.

DVD-Rebuilder with CCE is probably the best tool. but CCE is not free. CCE Basic costs arount $70 in USA, CCE SP around $2000.

People are having very good experiences with Rebuilder + QuEnc , which is free.

Other people are very hppy with DVDShrink or Nero Recode2 (are very similar). Only be sure to choose the deep analysis. And a good option for these programs is to compress selectivelly the menus and the extras (more the menus, more the extras, less the main movie).
