    How long can a serial cable be, I've extended it so as I can use the remote for the DVD card in another part of the house but the remote no longer works, works fine without the extension.. has anyone else tried this?

    No problem with CAT5 cable (4 pair@39p/metre)

    Just used two 9-Way D-Type connectors.
    Connect Orange(TX), Green(RX) & Blue(CTS) then ground all the other pins for good measure. I'm using a 25metre cable.
