What format is the mpeg video? (IE, is at up to VCD standards? SVCD standards?)

Try using VCDGearX to do a mpeg to mpeg conversion with the Generate Toast compatible MPEG files box checked.

It seems Windows people use every setting under the sun to create non-compliant MPGs. You'd be much better off trying to convert an AVI to DVD. I usually end up re-encoding MPGs I get from outside sources just to get them to work in DVDSP. QT has very strict standards when it comes to MPEG and Toast also uses QT standards. It's a pain.

Its only a pain because you have some
( inherent) trust in the other people's
abilities to create ( to our spec) MPEGs.

I've given up on such foolishness A LONG
TIME AGO, and just now stick to the
thought that "if I didn't create it,
    I therefore [need/should]re-create it."
My only time I waver from this thought,
is if I am sure of the person's abilities
    PERSONALLY.
But on the internet and usenet,
    everything is suspect.
