I posted a while back that while I was using CAPTY with my ADS Instant DVD had a clip that would refuse to compile. Now I have run into another clip that refuses to compile. When I start to compile it freezes and the beach ball starts spinning and I have to Force Quit the application. I have also run into clips that refuse to allow me to create markers. If you are familiar with CAPTY when you go to make markers it has to load the screen before you can do anything and while it is loading this screen it just freezes and I have to Force Quit.

Any ideas as to what caould be causing this or how to prevent it would be great. This is really giving me trouble on these projects. Trying to cut around these trouble areas is really time consuming and I have alot more to go.

Are these MPEGs created by PixeDV? If so, what settings are you using to encode the MPEGs? Did you use PixeDV's MPEG editor and if so did all the frames show up there okay?

I've never had CaptyDVD freeze while rendering the video in the Create Markers window. However, PixeDV does have problems at times with its MPEGs, particularly if the ADS box gets too warm.

You also can try some troubleshooting things such as deleting the CaptyDVD preferences, rebuilding permissions, running DiskWarrior or Disk First Aid and running the extended test on your Hardware Test CD (to check that your Mac's memory is okay).

Yes they are captured with PixeDV. I am using VBR 4.5. I am at work and don't remember any other settings. I am not sure what you mean by PixeDV MPEG editor. I did use the MPEG cutter and didn't see anything out of the ordinary with the frames. Then I added them to CAPTY and tried to compile them and that is where I ran into trouble.

I did repair permissions and I ran a Hadware Test less than 2 weeks ago. I don't have a disk Warrior. I might remove permissions and just reload the software all together.

Yeah, I mean MPEG cutter. Reinstalling the software may help. PixeDV has a feature to play its MPEGs. You might try playing one near where CaptyDVD chokes. Also, if you still have the original MPEG before you used the Cutter, try putting that in CaptyDVD and see if the Chapter window rendering still stalls.

Another thing to try. Take one of the DVDs you created with CaptyDVD and drag a VOB to your hard drive. Next, change the VOB extension to MPG. You should be able to drag that MPEG to CaptyDVD's title window and run the Chapter Marker rendering. If it works then the problem is the MPG file you are trying to use. If it doesn't work, the problem is CaptyDVD or something wrong in your Mac's system files.
