is firewire and ilink the same thing? i have an ilink connection on my dvd recorder and an ieee 1394 connection on my pc. is ilink the same thing, just with a different cable? if i have a dv camcorder with ieee 1394 output can i just buy a cable with one type of connector on each end an run it into my dvd recorder?

Yes to all. Just make sure your cable(s) have the right shaped ends for whatever you want to hook them into.
