  1. Hi
I just created a dvd with 4 videos on it using Ulead dvd movie factory . It seem to work but I have a few problems.

1- For 2 of the 4 videos the audio is out of sync with the video (and was perfect in the original video before ulead dvd movie factory converted it)

2- And the other problem is on one of the four videos, when i press play the video start for 2-3 seconds but then freeze. If i press fast fowardand play again it continu and it goes on ...

Can you tell me what can I do or what settign I could change in the software to correct those problems

    Thank you

You don't mention what the capture properties are of the 4 clips.
    Are they all the same??

If possible capture and use clips with the same properties

Yes, what matters here is your source material. Try to create DVD compliant sources before using UMF, and don't let UMF (re)encode.

    Hello there,

I have Ulead DVD Movie Factory 3 and I like it for the actual disc creation, but not overly happy with it in terms of video conversion.

I had a similar experience. I had a mini dv tape that had about 20 minutes of video on it. Some were shot with the camera set to 12 bit audio and some were set to 16 bit audio. When I play this tape back through the firewire or through the tv, the audio is fine. However, if I let movie factory convert this tape (captured as one long video with chapter points), then the audio gets out of sync on the clips. It appears (At least to me, I may be totally wrong here), that movie factory checks the audio properties of the first clip and then uses taht setting for the rest of the processing. So my clips with 16 bit audio (Since they come after the 12 bit) were all out of sync. The 12 bit clips came out just fine.

As to the freezing, I haven't had that problem. Have you tried different media, burn speeds, players? I just haven't seen this on any of mine.

I think movie factory is great (My opinion yours may vary) for creating the menus, chapter points etc, but the quality of the capture/conversion leaves a lot to be desired. What I've been doing is capturing the dv with win-dv and letting tmpeg process to mpg (Haven't done much editing yet). Then sent through movie factory with the do not convert compliant titles checked for the actual disk creation.

I'm sure others have easier/quicker methods, but that what has worked for me.

TMPGEnc, MainConcept, CCE, QuEnc - there are tons - look under tools for encoders.

  7. Thanks for the suggestions

It seem that i should convert my file properly before using
    Ulead DVD Movie Factory 3.

I was more looking for a good guide rather than a specific software.
because i need help to have the setting properly done to convert my file to a dvd compliant format.

  8. I've used it and never had a problem... the idea with 12 and 16 bit sound could be right....I use 12 only.

I use Video studio to capture and do the authoring, save it as avi, no encoding, then use Procder 1.5 to encode it as mpeg and then come back to moviefactory or videostudio to do the menues and burn it.
never had a problem, even when I used it for encoding...but I prefer procoder for that.
