Using Ridisc 4x on 1x burner (Toshiba SD-R6102 Laptop Writer)

Movies seem to so freeze, skip a couple of seconds or just stop working.

Is this a hardware, media or software error due to browsing at the same time of write?

    Thanks,
    Matt

  2. Shouldn't be browsing when burning.

  3. Unless your laptop is grossly underpowered, browsing shouldn't be a problem - and even then, I'm sure there is some sort of buffer under-run protection employed on the writer,

I would hazard a guess the writer isn't doing a good job of writing to the disc - I can't say I know who makes Toshiba's drives, but if you can find out it may be worth trying to get a firmware update out of them if Toshiba can't / won't help.

Also make sure you're running off of AC and not the battery when writing, and that the laptop isn't trying to conserve power by shutting bits of itself down when writing. Fluctuations in the supply can aggrevate a dodgy burn into a totally unreadable one.

Try different media, with the SAME project, and also let us know what application you're using. Plus, has it ever worked ?

Once we have ruled this little lot out, we can look at the recipient for the burnt disc. Are you trying to read the disc back on a laptop, or on a standalone ?

Not an issue with a modern writer using a read buffer, a write buffer and buffer underrun protection

You're doing it right. Try a different media
