  2. Here's the procedure that I use to cut out parts of an mpeg that is fast and easy:
    1. Download and run your mpeg through demux, found here:
    http://www.geocities.com/ted_rossin/tools/Video/Video.html
This will split your mpeg file into 2 files, m2v and mp2. If you get a different format other than mp2, convert it to mp2 with either BeSweet GUI or FFMpeg.

    2. Import your mp2 and m2v files into MPEG2Schnitt (you can also use cuttermaran, but it needs TMPGENC so you can only use it for 30 days). This will let you cut out the parts that you don't want. It will then export new m2v and mp2 files without rendering! You can then use these with whatever DVD Authoring program you have, or GUI for DVD Author, which works great. You may have to remux them, so you can use mplex, or just search around in the tools section.

This may sound complicated but it really is quite easy, so give it a try. Good luck!

As far as free windows software, I use Windows Movie Maker 2. Its only for XP, but its free and you can download it at Microsoft.com. The only thing about Movie Maker is that it only exports in wmv format, so you will have to convert it, but I can help there too.
    1. Take the exported wmv file and import it into Stoik Video Converter. This will let you convert it to avi (you probably want to use the XviD video codec, see www.xvid.org ).
    2. Take your avi file and either use BBMpeg, The Film Machine, SVCD2DVD, or TMPGENC if your trial hasn't run out and convert your file to mpeg 2 dvd format.

    Any other questions, just ask!

  5. ..or you can use DVDShrink->Re-Author->Start-End.
Put each saved clip into it's own folder(ex:clip1,clip2,etc) then use DVDShrink->Re-Author to author(combine).
