  1. Hi
Im beginning to wonder if all this digital video is worth it or not, Ive tried to join 2 *.avi files using tmpgenc mpeg tools and the result was that the second section was out of sync aud/vid, then i tried to join a few *.asf and *.wmv files using virtualdub and tmpgenc but both wont handle the files they say there not compatable , yet they promise the sun moon and stars before you use them !. also if i try to re-encode mpegs using tmpgenc for burning they end up being huge in size from the original. The guides are telling you that this prog is better than that prog, and you end up with the tools you were told wud do the job but they dont do what you wanted,
Is it me or does anyone else feel this way,
    Dosie

Yes it's worth the hassle, if you know what you're doing...................You obviously don't.
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........

Sorry, it's you. If your final product is DVD, I wouldn't join AVI files anyway. Let the authoring program do that. Trying to join ASF and WMV files in VirtualDub probably wouldn't work. It's for AVI.

As far as the files being 'huge' after you have encoded them, depends on the settings you used and the quality you desire.

It's not all that complicated, but you do need to study a little. That's what the info to the left is for. <<<<

I suggest you read through the guides (upper left) and the User Guides forum and see if anything there can help you. Also use the forum search and look for posts similar to what you're trying.

All the information you'll need is there. You just have to dig a little to find it

And ....yes, it's worth it once you get past the noob pains and start actually learning it. You'll get as hooked on it as the rest of us
