  1. Twice in the past 3 weeks I have ordered Prodisc 1631s which are supposed to be 4X from Rima and was shipped the S04 8X discs. The last order was 500 discs which just came today, I'm a very happy camper.

  2. I would love to see your Kprobe scans if you happen to have a Liteon burner.

  3. I would love to see them myself, I have an LG which isn't compatible with anything. I could send a disc if you could post scans.

  4. If you want to send me a disc I would be happy to post scans. Send me a PM and I will give you an address. Make sure you include the drive you burned on with firmware, and the speed you burned. It might be interesting to see both 4X and 8X burns.

    Hi,

I'm wondering wheteher the S04 discs are really 8X discs because DvdInfoPro shows that no 8X Write Descriptor/Strategy Field is available on them.
I ordered some from Rima as well and they don't burn at 8X on my Pioneer 107. The same applies for the RitekG05.

  8. They come up as 8X in DVDInfoPro with my 4120B, they also show 8X with CDSpeed and Nero Info Tool. Nero will only burn at 4X or 8X, no 2Xoption. The box they were sent in which looks like the factory box does say 4X on it though.

I did some search in DVD Media section and there's nothing about ProdiscS04. There's ProdiscF01 which is listed as Prodisc DVD-R 8X.

  10. I haven't been able to find anything either, so far they burn great at 4X, 100+ no problems yet. I don't have any way to do scans or I would try 8X. My drive isn't supported by DVDInfoPro.

    The Prodisc -R codes are F01 (8X) G02 (2X) S03 (4X) and S04 (8X).

    The +R codes are R01 (2X) R02 (4X) and R03 (8X).

    The +RW codes are W01 and W02.

The -RW codes are DW04 DW06 and DVDRW.

samijubal: address sent. I will return to you after I scan.

Check your firmware, Pioneer supports both of these at 8X as I recall.

    Hi,

My Pioneer is DVR107 /bare drive/, I don't know which firmware it has but it's supposed to be 8X drive isn't it? The problem is DVDInfoPro doesn't "see" these disc as 8X because it doesn't show 8X write Descriptor and Strategy Field. Both of them show up as 4X media. DVDDecrypter gives me the same results. The same with Nero CDDVD. Do I need to upgrade the factory firmware or I'm missing something?

  17. I don't know about this, but I think I remember reading in another post that the Pioneer 107 and 108 don't do 8X on the S04s with any firmware. Sort of strange if it's true since the Prodiscs are Pioneer certified.

  18. If you aren't sure which firmware it has you probably have what it came with and I would update it as the original firmware has the problems you are experiencing. Supermedia says they are 8X with the 107 and 1.16 or newer firmware.

This is as good a source as any.

Be warned before you order; they could be almost anything. Prodisc has been shipping whatever they can find and Rima isn't even sure what they get.

  21. Those are the ones. I e-mailed Rima before I ordered last time and they said they could be either S03 or S04 right now, that was Tuesday last week.

Chas0039 I'm going to do those copies in a few minutes and will try to send them tomorrow or the next day.

  22. I ran the CRC test in DVDInfoPro on the 8X disc, the only thing I can do on my drive, it was all green.

Great, I 'll get the scan up ASAP and send them back. Also sometimes Rima can make a mistake. They correct it but still you pay shipping. I was ASSURED on the phone, and after checking with the warehouse that I would be getting MCC discs. They turned out to be S03s. Hope you get you S04s. It would be nice if Prodisc would get their act back together.

  24. The S04s is what I got 500 of them. I sent them today, a 4X an 8X and 2 blanks for you to do at both speeds in whatever you have. Rima told me if I was ever unhappy with something I could send them back, they didn't come straight out and say they would pay the shipping but they sure implied they would.

    OK, here's some latest developments.
After reading the DVR 107D firmware update history I decided to flash it with the latest official firmware v1.18 . The original firmware was v1.10 . The result is now RITEKG05 is seen as 8X media /6X and 8X Write Descriptors are available/ and the media now burns at 8X. Well, it starts at 6X but past 650MB goes to 8X. Tested with DVDInfoPro, no mistakes or ureadable blocks. Then tried the ProdiscS04 but this time no luck. It wouldn't burn at 8X even from the hard drive. The software still sees it as 4X media /no 6X, 8X descriptor available/. Then all of a sudden the Prodiscs from the blue wrapped spindle that were supposed to be 4X
MCC 01RG20 satrted to burn at 8X. Upon checking the media code it turned out that these are actually MCC 02RG20 which are 8X media. These discs are from two separate orders. The 'blue' ones came as 4X /I hope you saw pictures of the blue wrapper already in another post/ and ProdiscS04 came in a regular transparent wrap. What's going on with these Prodiscs? Did anyone have any luck burning the S04 with Pioneer DVR107D and how?

The blue ones came as item #1624 and the S04 came as #1752.
    Both from Rima.

  27. Look at the last post in this thread. I don't know if it's true or not, but here is where I saw that Pioneer 107 and 108 don't support 8X on the S04s with any firmware. https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=237028

  28. Someone should email Supermedia and see why they say it is supported. I would, but I posted a couple of comments about Prodisc media codes being unreliable and they seem to have blocked me from any posts and will not answer emails.

  29. That's bogus, I've never dealt with them since I'm closer to Rima and have been very happy with them. I find someplace I like and I stick with them till they screw me. Sounds like reason enough to stay away from them to me.
