  1. Any one have it, played it? I am thinking of buying it but want to know if it is any good.

When Final Fantasy 7 came out I was hooked, same with 8 played them for weeks at a time without coming out of my bedroom. Completed 9 but did not get that involved in it, bought 10 and never played it. I am just really annoyed that these super cool games come out now that I have to work every hour in the week. If these came out about five years a go when I was 18 and working in a pub I would of been the daddy at them.

This will probably be another game I buy and never get the chane to play but I think I owe it to myself

I did the same with Star Wars Galaxies and never got a chance to play it.

    Opinions please lads !!!

A friend of mines wife plays it (she used to play EQ with us until we quit) and she seems to love it.

Never played it myself, its very nice looking graphicly though.

If you never got a change to play SW:G then save youself the cash and dont' buy it. These guys require huge investments in time.

    Hello,

Never really got into final fantasy. Now I just have an Xbox and my PC isn't strong enough so I can't play it even if I wanted too.

    Hello,

FABLE huh???? My brother in law has it. He's really into all the role playing games.

Looks like I'll have to make a trip to Blockbuster. I still need to take a look at Star Wars Battlefront.

Fable is indeed all that and a bag of free rice. Just if you want to enjoy it take it slow, I've not beat it yet because I like to experiance everything a game has to offer. People who slam right though the games story line are complaining its to short.

Personally I now have 10 hours logged and I'm willing to bet I'm not half done yet. Plus I'm looking forward to playing through it again and going total evil.

    Hello,

I should add I loved the original Zelda and Dragon Warrior. I just never got into the newer japanimation stuff out these days. Maybe I'll give Fable a test drive, kick the tires type of stuff.

So very very true. That game rules. I got it on fht 14th but didnt get a chance to play it until sunday(because of exams). Are you playing as good or evil? I've played it for at least 6-7 hours and I'm only done w/ the second "official" quest. Very addictive.

Something I figured out yesterday which you may already know...go to bowerstone north and talk to the old guy and do everything he says. After all that, you get 100(or 1000) experience points.

That is the problem though. With the latest run of FF RPGs running about 50+ hours straight through Fable isn't holding a candle to them for being epic. I've been watching a friend play it and he was totally excited playing through it until it got to the end after 30 hours, and he did a lot of odd sidequests the first time through. His second run wasn't even 20 hours. Replayability is pretty good because of the dynamic content but if you want crazy replayability you can go pick up ChronoCross (another by Square). Fable has some fantastic potential but it was wasted on this run.

  12. I remember when I did FF7 properly, doing every quest, every materia, each character having three ultimate materia, full enemy skill materias (this was the hardest thing), gold chocobo. And beating both weapons, including Ruby (the hardest enemy in any game ever !!!!).

My counter at the end was 17hrs, it had gone red because I had clocked it. 117 hours !!!!

Those were the days, locked in my bedroom with one of my mates. He would play I would watch etc... (no gay puns please) and vice versa. Loads of lagers, loads of fags (before I met bitch face I was allowed to smoke) and crap to eat.

FF7 was by far my favorite RPG ever, even moreso then the original Zelda. The materia system they used is the perfect upgrade system of any RPG. They should have just kept that in all subsequent FF games. Also the side game (the cards) was actually intuitive and fun, and worth playing. (I think-- its been so long I may be thinking of FFVIII which also had a good card system.) The later FF games, and most other side games in RPGs, are unnecessarily complex and just not fun or meaningfully related to the game. How about where you have to use your chocobo to dig for treasures? That was the most idiotic and laborious side game ever. It was literally work. FF7 just had a great mix of everything. I haven't completed a FF game since. I get near the end and just lose interest.

So is FF XI one of those online only things? MMORFS or whatever they are called? I have absolutely no interest in those. If it were just a single player RPG I'd be interested.

Did anyone ever see that FF spoof they had on tech tv, or some video game talkshow? There were these two guys who regularly reviewed games, where they would play through it a little bit while commenting. They started the game and were cheering at the opening video sequences. Then they played for maybe 30 seconds and up popped another long FMV, they cheered some more. Then then played a little more and another FMV came up. Everytime they cheered less and less. After a while the FMV's would pop up every 2 seconds. The whole review they were just desperately trying to advance to the next screen. Eventually they concluded that FF just sucks now.

I saw a review on TechTV for FF11, it seemed more like a girlie style of game. Same format of game though. 3 characters, cruising around, magic spells, etc. I thought putting some enemies in a trans with song was a little .... gay....but what ever. FF7 Rocked. Took forever to play, but if you needed to waste a good 8 hours and never realize it...that was the game.

I hardly think anything is wasted on Fable. I'm thinking of it personally as a very awesome dry run for what could be one of the best RPGs ever.

I think there's another Chrono-series one on its way for the PS2 so I'd be waiting for that. ChronoCross was a fantastic game. I had to stop myself after my 4th time through it. I think there were 7 endings total. All this from a PS1 game

Another great thing about Square's RPGs as opposed to the rest is their phenominal scores. Though the MIDI in-game is great the full orchestral recordings of the scores (especially Uematsu's) really show you how well they're composed. They are some of the best incidental music I've ever heard.

As what some of the others have said.

I've played FF8, 9 and 10. FF8 and 9 have over 100 hours of game play if you do the sidequests (and that's in doing stuff... not just running around). Playing both games straight through will probably still take around 40-50 hours.

    FF10 is somewhat shorter.

    Hello,

They should have named it like that "neverending story" series they did in the late 80's or early 90's - no stop ever!!!

The latest one is a car. I do not want her to work, I want her to stay at home and keep the house nice, talk bollocks to her mates etc.. She has been on for a new car for ages but we dont need one.

She has a N reg Ford Fiesta 1.1, she bought it in 1998 with 25,500 miles, it has just done 31,000 miles. So why does she need one "its not powerful enough" blah blah blah.

She did her nut last week cause I have the home cinema, weights room, computer room etc.. and she has nowt, my argument was that she had the kitchen and utility room (bit off a mistake).

So I have somehow now agreed to buy her a sporty new motor in January.

    No shit!!

Women are strange creatures, they insist on having expensive kitchens, with all matching utensils, and Smeg fridges that cost more than the GDP of China. This is non-negotiable then when you try and use your above argument they go round the bend. MAKE YOUR MIND UP WOMAN! EITHER YOU -WANT- THAT KITCHEN CRAP OR GET THE **** AWAY FROM MY CREDIT CARD!!

I ageee with you on the car though, if she only travels 2.7 miles a day tell her to get a ******* push-bike. I've got an N reg swift 1 litre, done six thousand miles since january. car does 103 top speed, why does she need to go that fast? Fiesta is about the same size, 3 door. I imagine she can pull away from the lights with tyres squealing, how much more power does she need in the middle of london? maybe someone out here with two passengers and a weeks shopping going up some of the hills would need more power, but 2.7 miles a day the engine won't even be warm!

Tell her she can have a new one when that one stops working, same way you can have a new home theatre when that one stops working. (keep a cup of tea on standby to throw in your amp when you decide you need DTS 9.1 )

  27. We don't live in London I live in a place called Leigh-on-Sea on the South East coast. She is out of the house for 12+ hours so when she gets in she has something to eat, shower, chucks some shite on her face and then watches the box, where the **** does she intend to go??.

I was just reading that their is actually two other sound formats 10.2 and 15.3!!!!

Oh I LOVED FF7...I personally think it was one of the best games to come out for the PS1...even if the characters had block hands . In fact, I liked that game so much that I recorded the entire game onto 14 Hi-8mm tapes (including the Ruby and Emerald Weapon fights). I virtually know the game by heart since ive played it so much....not to mention buying the soundtrack for it as well. I think the best thing about recording a game like that to tape is that I can record my best fighting scenes...especially bosses, and moves that were done that I am not able to do the second time around.

As for FF XI....Ive read alot about it and to me personally, its not really worth it. From what I read its mostly an online game which mean you would need the hard drive for the PS2 (which is included with the XI game) and an subscription. I think theres only so far you can get along in the game before you have to team up with others online.

Ive played FF8, havent done 9 yet, and barely started X and I have X2....boy i have alot of catching up to do But with me living alone and having more time on my hands, i can indulge myself.

Thats another nice thing about living alone and being single....can have all the time you want...no interruptions. 8)
