Having watched all three recently. I will say that:

    The Last Crusade is GREAT
Raiders of the Lost Ark is OK
    Temple of Doom is BAD

    What are your opinions?

I think basically the same. The Last Crusade was by far my favourite, Raiders of the Lost Ark was pretty good, but Temple of Doom was just plain bad.

I'm completely the opposite. I thought temple of doom was far better than the other two
    If in doubt, Google it.

I agree with 888888's ranking, but I liked all of them. But Sean Connery and Harrison Ford worked so well together, and there were such good one-liners by Connery, I thought it edged out even Raiders as the best one

    Hello,

I voted for Raiders. Hard to beat the classic that started it all. Who can't love the truck chase with Indy going UNDER the truck! Or how about "Egyptian Asps, very dangerous, You go first!" Salah to Indy at the well of souls.

I liked Cruzade better than Temple but Temple was only slightly less entertaining (if temple had Connery too it would tie! )

The last Crusade is my favorite, followed by Raiders and then Temple of Doom, so same opinion as 888888 amds Grimey.

Raiders just has that "larger than life" feel that great movies have (Star Wars, ET, etc.). That magic faded with Temple & spiraled into cheese with Last Crusade. Still very entertaining, but lacking that movie-magic. Just my opinion. Great poll - I like how the responses have been a mixed bag.

I know sequels can be seen as less than the original but you didn't like Crusade????

That had some of the best action of all 3. Not to mention everything from the stunts to the special effects were well fine tuned due to experience.

I didn't say I didn't like it, just that it lacked the "mojo" of the first one. I still enjoyed it; I just wasn't 'wowed' by it. I agree that Connery & Ford were great together onscreen, but it just didn't resonate with me like Raiders did.

    Hello,

Ok understood. It is hard to top blockbusters that aren't like anything else at the time.

Connery is one of my favorite actors so adding him to Last Crusade was fantastic. He and Harrison Ford must have got along admirably while filming that, it really reflects on screen.

  13. On a side note (read:Threadjack), the Star Wars series did not lose its "mojo" or momentum until the last two releases. Still, quite a feat in my mind. (Again, just my opinion)

Yes it is just your opinion. For those who haven't looked recently here is the top 20 grossing movies of all time:

    http://movies.yahoo.com/boxoffice-alltime/rank.html

Up until recently ALL 5 STAR WARS MOVIES WERE IN THE TOP 20 ALL TIME list. This obviously shows strong support for the originals AND the prequels. For one Phantom Menace had the pent up demand that shot it up to sky high results (darn Titanic STILL no 1, oh well at least there will never be a sequel!!!)

Episode 2 has done very well though not as well as it could have. Empire was in the top 20 until this year.

  16. But is it any match for a pissed-off, 900 year old, light-saber wielding Jedi Master? It's probably too late to sign up for Jabba the Hut's "Resisting Jedi Mind Tricks" self-improvement course also.

A Desert Eagle beats a light saber Just get a few rounds off before he scrunches up his little cloth face and starts messing with your head. A .44 or .50 cal. round will make him an excellent candidate for the rag bag

I wasn't speaking in terms of the box-office success of the prequels, there's no arguing that. I was simply stating that I didn't enjoy either of them near as much as the first three. Did you like either of them more than any of the first 3?

Exactly. And since when did "quality" enter into a movie's success. Look at the number 3 all-time movie It's friggin drawings, people!

    Hello,

EPISODE 2 would tie ROTJ but not 4 + 5. I love ALL Star Wars. Haven't you figured that out yet????

I have an issue with animated movies. It was only grudgingly that I watched Nemo.

Maybe it's because of the time I took my older son to see Transformers, The Movie and still wake up in a cold sweat recalling the mind-numbing boredom I was forced to endure

Capmaster doesn't watch drawings on the big screen. I insist on actors and actresses

Yes, and that is why tread lightly on this subject matter.

EPISODE 2 would tie ROTJ but not 4 + 5.
That was my point. Even the biggest fan will not admit that the original three have not be topped.

If I made a poll, "Who thinks that either of the new Star Wars releases are better than the first three?", everybody knows what the outcome would be. It wouldn't even be close (despite advances in filming techniques & technologies, as well as the benefit of having several years to undertake the creative process).

I'm not slamming the latest releases, it's just that Lucas set the bar so damn high with the first three installments.

Which means what exactly? Of the three Matrix movies, for example, the last one
made the most money although it is almost universally condemned as the
worst of the three. Also look at inflation, movie going trends and the
effect of advertising. Any list based on gross income means little imho.
