That is a valid point but don't forget about movies that bomb but are still decent movies. 2 I can point two on the scifi side are Final Fantasy and Tomb Raider 2. Both were quite good and neither did well at the box office. I thought they should have had a better end result but I still own them on DVD and that's all that really matters I guess (I did see both in the theater).

Gross earnings are not the sheer factor to determine success but without a franchise can die or take off. Look at Austin Powers. Wasn't the video release of the first movie the only reason the other 2 were made????

If I made a poll, "Who thinks that either of the new Star Wars releases are better than the first three?", everybody knows what the outcome would be. It wouldn't even be close (despite advances in filming techniques & technologies, as well as the benefit of having several years to undertake the creative process).

I'm not slamming the latest releases, it's just that Lucas set the bar so damn high with the first three installments
I know most people don't see them as better I'm just tired of everybody making them out to be the worst movies ever made. I mean anything that continues the saga of a story set in a galaxy far far away I'm all for it.

And yes the originals are untouched but I see the prequels as the explanation of all of the minutae of the universe. I like more info and more importanly, more action. You can't get enough of some of the wizadry they pull off.

Don't forget, it's not just Star Wars that this is all about. This is a test bed for ILM. This is where they put all of there farthest reaching techniques and process to the test. They make it effecient and cost effective for others to hire them for movies. It's like DOOM 3. Just because the game might not be the blockbuster everybody wanted it to be doesn't mean it's not important. That game engine will be licensed to dozens of new games out there. We reap the benefit of all the research and determination that went into those games/movies. So even if you find faults with some of it in the end it will make the entertainment world that much more explosive and mind blowing.

    Hello,

No. Just that in Star Wars it's neater to see a flaming hole shoot right through a stormtrooper than a gunshot!

    Kevin

---Besides, he has a REAL job in INDY. In Star Wars he's a PIRATE!! A little neater than being just a teacher--

i dont know it's kind of a close one for me...i think harrison ford gave his best performance ever in these two series...

i was talkin about this with my buddy the other day. it's like every single movie ford ever did after never compared. what are you supposed to do after two series like these. there's never gonna be anything better.

oh yeah and i was always partial to raiders of the lost arc..had that bad boy on laser disc...you know flippin those things back in the day was a pain in the ass

What????? I'm just saying its more exciting for an adventure story to be a swashbuckling pirate than a teacher. Yes he pulls out his whip and gun and beats the crap out of people but at the end of the day he has to go back and hit the books. Where as Han Solo gets to be a space general and order people around!!!!
