  1. Just wondered if you have had enough time to do some testing and wondered what your opinion was on the MCC Prodisc media?

    Thanks

Burn-wise, 50 discs with 1 coaster at burn.
    No surface scans so far.

I don't see how these are any different than PRODISCS03 to be quite honest. In fact, maybe a bit better.

It'll be a week before I burn any more or scan anything.

Well I guess I will just go ahead and order the 500 that I need. I was hoping for a little more input from those that have bought the MCC prodisc as there seems to be some contravesy whether or not they are as good as the S03. I can sure stand 1 in 50 providing there is no problems with playback, freezing etc.

    Thanks

My cousin has been using the MMC stuff for a few weeks. Says the scans look pretty good for him. He showed me some and there was a big drop off part way though the disk and he said it was because his drives been "doing that".

On a good drive the scan look great.

Thanks for the reply. Just the type of feedback I was looking for. I have no experience with the MCC disks and didn't want to get 500 only to find they were inferior to the S03 so your comments are at least somewhat reassuring.

    Thanks again

  9. Where are you guys getting your MCC Prodiscs from? Supermediastore?? Are any of you getting the inkjet printables? I wonder if there is a quality difference between these & the non-inkjet printables.

    Thanks,

Rima says their 4X white inkjet printable Prodisc are MCC code at the current time.

  14. Thanks, lordsmurf. SMS is where I typically do my media shopping, so this is good to hear. I like the Linkyos that I received from them recently, but I can't get them to burn faster than 6X, so after my 100pk is up, I'll probably switch back to Prodisc.

    Thanks,
    jawgee

They are burning great with perfect CD/DVD Speed scans. The only slight annoyance for me is that I can't get them to burn any faster than 6X on my NEC 2500A. Otherwise, they were a great bargain!

  17. There was another post from someone who said Meritline was giving you a choice between MCC and S03 and was apparently able to tell what was what. For those of you who still use Prodisc it might be worth checking out. As for me I have switched to Ritek G05s; burned at 4X the scans are better than or equal to TY and the price after rebates is about 40 cents. Plus I always get the same media code.
Still a few bugs in the system...

With the first 50 MCC discs used, the scans showed 1 bad disc, in addition to the 1 failed burn.

So I'm looking at 48 perfect out of 50. That's 96% so far, not bad.

    More to go.

Smurf, you should consider trying the AML 01 media..(currently supermedia stores brand +R inkjet printable are the only ones I know that carry this mediacode.)

I'll even mail you one if you'd like..I go through several hundred discs a month, and these have gotten by far the least amount of complaints I've ever had per disc sold, and by far the fewest I've had to replace.

8x burns go okay even sometims, though not enough to be reliable...6x burns are about 90% (still not good enough for me, though)..

but at 4x, which they're rated, I've not had a single coaster. The printable surface is also great quality, better than the MCC prodiscs I was using before which started crapping out on me (I believe a bad batch...burning surface had almost like a glue crust etc, so I got something else etc).

Getting a liteon soon so I can scan them better.

I've sampled AML in the past. Pretty poor stuff, overall. That was DVD-R, however.

I just noticed I was shipped MCC as ProdiscS03 via Shop4Tech, and on my DVR-107D, they don't play on my Sony DVP-7700. However, I have firmware 1.15 on my DVR-107D, so I'm not ruling out the possibility maybe firmware could be affecting the burns.

  24. I just got this shipped, did a few tests, I also got a "big drop-off" in the middle (with cd-dvd speed transfer rate test), but only in the drive that was used to burn the disk. I tried 3 other drives, all came out perfect.
