  1. Hello.

I already looked in conversion section for guides but Nothing comes up.

Let's suppose that you have mpeg-2 file (at the moment I usually use 480x480 which I am assuming is non-acceptable for DVD but that I can easily change) that is encoded with Tmpgenc with "acceptable" dvd settings.

What is the easiest way to get VOB out of that without reencoding the file one more time (if possible)? I do not care about audio at all so everything that TMPGENC does for me is good to go as DVD (mp2 for audio, 352x480 video perfectly happy with it).

I have a program for burning DVD's that came with unit but I do not like the encoder that is being used with it.

I even don't need menu's for that matter, just tracks are good.

    So any help is appreciated.

If you look to the left under the "What is" section under DVD half way through the article it will give you acceptabl resolutions and settings to remain DVD compliant. Instead of creating a 480x480 mpeg use compliant resolutions and settings.

Most authoring programs won't renencode a mpeg that's DVD compliant as lomg as you use the same settings and resolutions your video has. Options vary according to the program. Some will renecode even if it is compliant, in that case you'll need to look into another authoring app.

To maintain the highest quality the video should only be encoded to mpeg once. If the source for your 480x480 mpeg's is a avi reencode them from the AVI not your mpeg.

Firstly, when using TMPGEnc you need to encode to suitable DVD specs - see What is DVD (top left). I am telling you this because 480 X 480 is not a DVD-compliant resolution

Once you have a MPEG-2 file that is DVD-compliant, you need to use an authoring program to convert MPEG-2 into IFO, BUP and VOB files. This authoring process doesn't re-encode the files is any way, it simply adds different headers to the files. A popular yet very simple application is TMPGEnc DVD Author, but there are plenty you can use. There is a list of other authoring tools here.
    If in doubt, Google it.

For your 480x480 mpegs, you can run them thru SVCD2DVD, and then author with "anything" like TMPGEnc DVD Author or DVDAuthorGUI. VOBs are created as part of the authoring process, not something you explicitly create.

  7. hey thanks. I just found that dvdstyler with dvdauthor as a freeware app. It looks good so far and fairly easy to use.

Now I have another question in regards to my videos for DVD.

I've also tried DVD Styler but I prefer GUI for DVD Author over it. It has an easy interface which looks simple at first but actually offers alot of features. It doesn't encode your video, just outputs to AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS.
