    Hi Guys,

I have been using this procedure for a long time with absolutely no problem... until now.

Everything still works ok, no errors during the process etc, the problem arises when I view the copied dvd in my stand alone.

I have not changed the procedure at all as it has worked fine in the past.

It will play fine for a while then it will pause, then skip through all the chapters and stop. I initially thought it was a bad or scratched dvd, so I tried again with the same results. This does NOT happen in the same spot, I have started playing from various chapters, it will play fine for a minute, then start jumping again.

I have cleaned the dvd player using the cleaner, I have tried to play "original" dvd movies with no problem... what could have caused this??

I have tried burning the disc at a slower rate without success.

Does my DVD burner need to be cleaned or am I way off??

    Please help.

    Thanks for your reply...

DVD media is TDK (been using this since day 1 without problems).

    DVD burner is an LG.

By the way... when I play the dvd in my dvd burner, it plays fine throughout the whole movie, it is just recently when I try to play it in my standalone LG player.

I will try with different brand of blank media but can't see that this is the problem as it has been fine until recently.

The TDK brand I am using is probably one of the most popular on the market here in Australia.

try using DVDINFO PRO or DVD IDENTIFIER to get the media code. some TDK media is manufactured by CMC which is crappy media. are you using DVD-R or DVD+R? i know the 25 pack TDK DVD-R from Costco is media code TTG01 which is good.

It could also be your player. The calibration for reading burned disks is different (and touchier) than that for reading pressed disks. It could be that your player is now having problems reading burned disks.

It goes by the media code.

Use dvdinfopro to find out the media code.

Thanks guys, but once I get the media code, what do I do then, how do I know if it is "good" or "bad"??

    I use DVD+R.

Use the code to look up the media in the media list (on the left), and check out the comments. This will give you an idea of how others find that media.

you can post the media code by copying it then pasting it in here for others to see. that way we could tell you if the media is good or not to use.

    Thanks for your help guys.

    I will try this tonight.

It's funny you should mention this. The price of a 5-pack of these disks used to cost me $25.

Recently, I have been able to buy these packs at $12... a 50% decrease. The packaging looks exactly the same and so do the discs.

Could this be an example of TDK getting someone to make their disks under the TDK name and descibed in an earlier post??

Definately sounds a media problem, they may cost more, but go for Ritek RiData or ProDisc

I personally use nothing but ink jet printable Ritek G04 with a white top, and have also just bought a spindle of Ritek RiData

Mind you, strange as it seems, since changing my burning software from using Nero 6.3.1.20 to using the method I now use which is probably the same as you use, I get NO skipping, pausing, freezing anymore, and that is the only thing I have changed

All I have changed is the burning software, but use DVD Shrink as the transcoder as it also calls DVD Decrypter to burn the DVd as an image

I can't for sure say if its Nero or because I'm now burning as an image not as tracks, but from all the complaints about Nero 6 on here, then I'm looking at Nero as the cause, and won't use it anymore to burn DVD's

Surely the burning software can't effect that ?? Can it .......
