  1. I have an Intel motherboard and have always wondered if the Intel Application Accerlerator does any good, in comparison with just keeping DMA 5 settings.
When Intel Application Accelerator is installed, DMA 5 settings don't show up.
Has anyone confirmed that the Intel Application Accelerator really does any good?

    I Appreciate All Responses.

Ugh, that thing absolutely froze up my system so I won't touch it. Although it may not have been recommended for my chipset and configuration. If it specifically states it will work with your setup then give it a try. I've heard some good things about it.

Mine shows current transfer mode as UDMA-5. I like the program but it does have to match you chipset.

Sorry, can't seem to get the image loaded but it does indicate the transfer mode for every drive (both possible and actual).

  5. Mine, too, shows UDMA-5. Without it, I drop frames, so I have to have it. I don't think the DMA setting shows up in the drive "Properties" (as Windows XP enables DMA by default if drives and ide cables support it), but it is in the Intel Accelerator Dialog (when you click the Intel Accelerator icon).
If it works, don't fix it.

It is my understanding that APP Accelerator enables DMA in the chipset (if it needs too) and in the operating system (if it needs to). I figure "who knows an Intel Chipset better than Intel".
